Description
This dataset from Emilio F. Garcia (2003) that looks at records of Epitoniidae (Mollusca: Gastropoda) in the the Indo-Pacific region. In the paper, thirty Indo-Pacific species of Epitoniidae are recorded, with range extensions for Acrilloscala xenicima (Melvill & Standen, 1903), Amaea gazeoides Kuroda & Habe, 1950, Cirsotrema rugosum (Kuroda & Ito, 1961), Cirsotrema plexis Dali, 1925, Claviscala solar Nakayama, 1995, Cylindriscala humerosa (Schepman, 1909), and Epitonium (Parviscala) bevdeynzerae Garcia, 2001. Nineteen new species are described. These include five species in the genus Amaea: A. apexroseus, A. boucheti, A. diluta, A. elegantula, A. lennyi; one species in the genus Boreoscala: Boreoscala ponderosa; three species in the genus Cirsotrema; C. (C.) excelsum, C. (Dannevigena) richeri, C. (Discoscala) herosae; two species in the genus Claviscala: C pellisanserina, C. vivienneae; one species in the genus Cylindriscala: Cylindriscala paradoxa; one species in the genus Gregorioiscala: Gregorioiscala nevillei; one species in the genus Gyroscala: Gyroscala mikeleei; four species in the genus Epitonium: E. (Hirtoscala) deschampsi, E. (Lamelliscala) maestratii, E. (Parviscala) kastoroae, and E. (P.) juanitae: one species in the genus Periapta: Periapta weili.
This is based on recent biodiversity exploration by Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD, Nouméa) and Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle (MNHN, Paris) which has brought to light many hundreds of new or little-known species of molluscs and other benthic invertebrates. Much of these explorations have been focussed on the South- West Pacific, especially New Caledonia, with more scattered results from South-East Asian seas and the SW Indian Ocean.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 115 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.
