This is an ongoing project to create a collection of specimens of seagrasses found in various locations in Vanuatu.

Финансирование The initial speciemens in the collection were collected as an activity of the project “Strengthening Monitoring, Community Management, and Policies for Dugong Conservation in Vanuatu” funded by the Critical Ecosystem partnership Fund. The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund is a joint initiative of l’Agence Française de Développement, Conservation International, the European Union, the Global Environment Facility, the Government of Japan, the MacArthur Foundation and the World Bank. A fundamental goal is to ensure civil society is engaged in biodiversity conservation This project is an extension of the Vanuatu component of the Dugong and Seagrass Conservation Project which is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The global project is supported by the Dugong Secretariat of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) and project managed by Mohamed bin Zayed Species (MbZ) Conservation Fund. The project in Vanuatu is implemented by VESS and supported by the Department of Environmental Protection and Conservation, the Vanuatu Fisheries Department and the Department of Tourism Data prepared and published under GBIF project "Capacity building and data mobilization for conservation and decision making in the South Pacific" - BID-PA2016-0002-REG
